BG P.D. Bowle, 1856     

He participated in numerous major battles during The War Between The States and as Commanding Officer led his regiment, the 4th Alabama, at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Petersburg, and Richmond. His accomplishments on the battlefield led to a promotion to Brigadier General in April, 1865. He later became one of the leading attorneys in the state of Alabama. Attended The Citadel for 2 years, then left for UVa Law School but never received a degree.
