LTC Thomas N. Courvoisie, USA, 1938     

"The Boo" (his universally known nickname) was a Citadel icon for five decades. He was the inspiration for two books by author/alumnus Pat Conroy, and one motion picture, The Lords Of Discipline, in which his character played a starring role. His Citadel education was interrupted by WW11 and he actually graduated in 1952 as a veteran student. Assistant Commandant in charge of discipline,1961-1968,he called cadets "Lambs" and "Bums", meted out punishment and favors and was never seen without a foul smelling cigar.
