William McKenzie Parker, 1868     

Cadet Parker,and other members of The Battalion Of State Cadets------the last armed confederate force in SC----engaged a union army patrol under command of General Sheridan and after a brief firefight was killed near Williamston, SC 9 May 1865. Notable because he was the last Citadel alumnus and last confederate to die as a result of hostile action in the last skirmish east of the Mississippi River during The War Between The States.
